This brand showed up in my social media feed. I'm wary of products advertised on social media. Some might indeed be great, but it is a minefield of bogus reviews and dropshipped products, companies selling the same low quality stuff just branded differently. Moodytiger isn't well represented in my country and they have just a single store, located in a premium mall/hotel. Real reviews are also hard to find.
I've used these swim trunks quite a few times, and they are great for a number of reasons, especially because they seem anatomically designed. They are more conservative and fashionable than a swim brief or square cut trunk, but not as long as a jammer. It's high rise giving more coverage and comfort in the upper block.
The waistband has a concealed elastic band that can be used for a better fit. The band is sewn in a loop and completely secured within the waistband, so you'll never lose a band again. The holes around the elastic band entry and exit points have ample reinforcement to protect against wear.
The front gusset and one-piece crotch are both lined, so they are both supportive and comfortable for hours of wear on those long days at the beach. The elastic around the leg openings is snug enough that it does not ride up during use, but still comfortable to wear all day. The cut is more relaxed than expected for swim trunks but it doesn't flap about in the water or worse, fall off when jumping into a pool.
When it comes to swimwear, I suggest to say goodbye to boring ones in dark shades and instead buy bright colours or patterns. The reason is high visibility in the event of any emergency. The colourful printed panels are a great aesthetic, but they are also for safety. There is reinforced stitching on all the seams which lie flat against the skin, for comfort and longevity. Branding is fairly subtle too.
The size charts are actually useful and worth using. If your kid has an average build and their stats fall into each of the two ranges for weight and height, you can safely buy the corresponding size and get a comfortable fit. Buy a size down for a more snug fit but risk growing out of it faster. Or if they are between sizes, buy the larger size.
The pricing might seem a little steep when compared to the usual competition, but these are exactly what a pair of swim trunks should be like. It seems a lot of thought has gone into it and they are just really well-designed.
