True to height. Our pieces are cut with room to move, so most families size by height first and only size up when a child is at the top of a height band or between two sizes. Leggings and joggers stretch; tops fit closer, so check chest measurements for those.

Measure height standing against a wall without shoes, from floor to the top of the head. Chest goes around the fullest part under the arms, waist at the natural waistline, hips at the widest point, tape snug but not tight. Measure every three to four months; children grow faster than the retail calendar.

Use the girls' leggings chart on this page. It lists waist and hip ranges by size, which matter more than weight for a close fit. If your child is between two waist ranges, take the larger size; the fabric recovers, so it won't sag.
